Terms of Service
Welcome to SplitIt. By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms.
The service
SplitIt is a web app for tracking shared expenses on trips and computing who owes whom. It is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind.
Your data is your responsibility
You are responsible for the accuracy of the trip names, expenses, items, and member assignments you enter. SplitIt's debt calculations only reflect what you've entered — double-check totals before sending money to anyone.
No money handling
SplitIt does not move money. We track who owes whom, but actual payments happen between you and your trip members through whatever method you arrange (Venmo, Zelle, cash, IOU). We are not a payment processor or a financial institution.
Acceptable use
Don't use SplitIt to harass other users, send spam, attempt to compromise the service, or store data you don't have a right to share. We may suspend or terminate accounts that abuse the service.
Account termination
You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or pose a risk to other users. After termination, your data is handled per our Privacy Policy.
No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that debt calculations will be free from rounding artifacts. You agree to verify totals before settling.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SplitIt and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising from your use of the service.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Changes
We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above.
